LeClaire Community Library to be renovated
The LeClaire Community Library (323 Wisconsin St.) will be recarpeted and painted in February 2024, with preparations underway now.
This project will result in a unified color palette throughout the building, and better flow and flexibility in the library space, according to a Monday release. It was financed by the city of LeClaire, with assistance from the Friends of LeClaire Community Library. This project is also the recipient of a $5,000 Hubbell-Waterman Foundation grant, to purchase new furniture for the Children’s Area.

This major update to the library’s appearance will officially begin Feb. 5 and is scheduled to be completed March 4, kicking off the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the library’s founding in July 2004.
The library has no plans to fully close at any point during the project but advises library users to be aware that there may be periods of limited library access. Once the work is underway, the public will be able to enter the building to pick up holds, perform quick printing and faxing, drop off and pick up Winter Reading Program materials, and ask reference questions of staff, but not browse independently for materials. Library staff will be available to give curbside service, if patrons prefer to have requested items brought to their vehicle.
February library programs will be held off-site, including weekly storytimes and craft programs at the LeClaire Civic Center. There will be a special storytime at the LeClaire Fire Station, a children’s STEAM program held at the Buffalo Bill Museum, the adult Book Club will meet at Grasshoppers Gatherings, and AARP Tax Aide appointments in February will be held at City Hall.
On Feb. 17, the Civic Center will host a Trivia Night as a library fundraiser. For dates, times, and exact locations of all programs, see the library’s website HERE, Facebook page, or newsletter.
The library also advises users to monitor the library’s website and Facebook page to stay aware of service updates and project progress. You can stop in today to see samples of the planned colors and a map of the intended changes, and to sign up for the Winter Reading Program 2024: A Blizzard of Books.
